Front-firing subwoofer

Discover 3-dimensional sound

All loudspeakers in the set share an identical tuning and sound the same. An enveloping surround sound is the result. Even the centre speaker contains the same drivers as the front and rear speakers – a unique feature of Teufel surround systems.

Slender columns for easy living room integration

All speakers in the Definion range are designed with a slender form that tapers towards the back. The elegantly varnished real wood cabinet in either anthracite or white elegantly enhances the speaker’s graceful shape. The system’s restrained exterior gives even the largest components in the set an inconspicuous and refined appearance that looks at home in any interior.

Not only does the Definion’s design look good, it has sound optimizing qualities that discourage the formation of standing waves.

AV receiver required

This surround set requires an AV receiver to be used. It amplifies and distributes audio and visual signals. If you do not already have a compatible AV receiver, you can find many options under our accessories category or complete sets in our home cinema category that come prepackaged with a receiver.

Our Berlin-engineered SCA Coaxial Enclosure

Teufel spent two and a half years developing the DEFINION 3's unique flat diaphragm coaxial enclosure. SCA (Synchronized Coaxial Acoustics) technology allows it to act as a single point audio source, ensuring the least possible lag between midwoofer and tweeter.


Nearly all output frequencies reach the listener's ear at exactly the same time, resulting in particularly authentic and natural sound reproduction.

Sound dispersion
Like in the real world, individual sounds are perceived as coming from a single source. Sound is dispersed uniformly for identical audio at various listening positions.

Tweeter and midwoofer
The tweeter and midwoofer are fused together into a single element. This leads to a superior sense of space than can be achieved with a separate tweeter.

Flat diaphragms
Flat diaphragms avoid constricting the tweeter sonically.  They vibrate air particles naturally on a single plane, preventing interference and producing more precise sound as a result.

CFRP diaphragm with wok cones on all woofers.

Wok woofers are so named because they lack protective dust caps in their center and so resemble the deep pans that are their namesake. CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers) gives the wok woofer diaphragms in the DEFINION range a highly stable structure while keeping them very lightweight, which benefits precision in the bass range. This, in conjunction with the precision channel, allows the diaphragms to have cutoff frequencies as low as 50 Hz. Astounding for a driver that's only 14 cm wide in the back.

Neutral, balanced and true-to-source

Another advantage of the three CFRP enclosures is that they have an incredibly broad output range. The result is very harmonious and coherent performance up to middle ranges. From there, crossover gently transfers sounds to where they're most optimal for the SCA coaxial enclosure.

At the end of this harmonizing process, we get a very flat frequency response for identical output in all sound ranges with a particular focus on powerful bass performance so it can reproduce even bassier music styles in a way you're sure to enjoy.

We recommend using these solid spikes as acoustic coupling for considerably more precision in the low ranges and much better focusing in the mid and high ranges, and we offer these solid spikes as available in a four pack.
